Please Meet Dr. Joe.
As a native Staten Islander, “Dr. Joe” Merola graduated from the College of Staten Island in 2010 with a B.S. in Biology. He then attended Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, graduating with a D.M.D. degree in 2014. Dr. Joe continued his education, completing a residency and chief residency in General Dentistry at Staten Island University Hospital.

Had the best experience with my 2 month old for tie releases! Prior to releases, Dr. Joe discussed the procedures thoroughly as well as how important therapy was pre and post procedure. My son was surprisingly very calm and relieved after procedures. All the staff was so helpful too discussing everything that came along with the releases and aftercare. Looking forward to bringing my toddler to be a patient of sweet tooth also!!

Me and my sister have been going to Sweet Tooth for at least 6 years now. Even though were teenagers now, every single of them have always been so kind. As soon as you walk in, they are so welcoming and friendly. We love Dr. Joe so much and all the dental assistants. The establishment is always spotless and extremely clean as well. We definitely recommend coming!

We absolutely love Sweet Tooth & Dr. Joe!
My daughter is a special needs child, and the entire team is incredibly patient, compassionate, and understanding of her needs. They take their time, meet her where she is, and make every visit feel safe and positive, which is not easy to do.
It’s clear they truly care and have experience working with children who need extra support. I honestly wish they treated adults too, because if they did, I’d actually enjoy going to the dentist. Highly recommend, especially for families with special needs children.

Let me begin with my 7 year old son was snoring, teeth grinding and moving a 100 times during a nights sleep. He would never hit rem and was always an emotional kid. I knew his airway was the issue. We started with Tooth pillow and myo-functional therapy. We did the therapy for weeks and really strengthened his jaw, tongue and lips. However we hit a block b/c no matter how much we did his tongue and lips ties were very tight. That’s where Dr. Joe from sweet tooth came in. We scheduled our appointment with him and it was the BEST experience ever. He had both ties released and he healed beautifully. He is sleeping with his mouth closed, no teeth grinding and doesn’t move in the middle of the night. It’s like a new kid! I recommend Dr. Joe so much! He was the best! But you have to do the therapy first, then exercises during healing and therapy after and then your Golden!
