ICON Resin Infiltration

White spots in the teeth are joy killers, and until recently, there hasn’t been a good treatment. Teeth whitening rarely helps, so people often opt for drilling and filing to remove the white spot. ICON resin infiltration, on the other hand, has been a game-changer.

The ICON resin infiltration takes only one visit to our office. Rest assured it’s minimally invasive, and no drilling or local anaesthetic injection is involved. You don’t need to worry about your child handling it, as kids tolerate the procedure well without any issues.

With our experts on board, expect your child’s appointment to last an hour, depending on the nature of the teeth under treatment.
The Procedure
The procedure entails cleaning the plaque and tartar from the tooth being treated while using a wedge to separate a tooth from neighboring teeth. With an etching solution, we remove the outermost layer of the tooth enamel, while drying out the white spot lesions and pores with a drying agent.

Going forward, we apply the ICON resin infiltration solution to fill in the pores and improve the overall appearance of your child’s teeth. Finally, we remove excess resin, cure the teeth, with some final polishing.

What You Should Know
ICON treatment is not permanent, since you will need to touch it up occasionally to maintain their appearance. You don’t need to worry, as your child could always decide what’s best when they reach adulthood.

On average, ICON treatment lasts two years. However, most patients have gone to five years and longer without the spot reappearing. However, you must understand that ICON treatment is good for your child’s teeth.

Do you know why?
The treatment leaves more tooth structure intact, compared to the previous procedure of drilling and filling. ICON treatment is not bad for your child’s teeth, but rather the opposite.
